An aircraft reciprocating-engine spark plug whose center and ground electrodes are made of small-diameter precious-metal wire, typically platinum or iridium. The fine-wire construction allows the electrodes to operate at higher temperatures without rapid erosion, resists lead fouling better than massive-electrode plugs, and provides a more consistent spark over a longer service life.
