Definition
The body's vestibular apparatus, located in the inner ear, which detects changes in linear acceleration and angular motion of the head and contributes to a pilot's sense of balance and spatial orientation. It works alongside vision and the postural (proprioceptive) system to keep the pilot oriented in three-dimensional space.
