Definition
A training procedure in which an aircraft lands, comes to a complete stop on the runway, and then takes off again from that stopped position.
Plain English
You land, stop fully on the runway, and then begin a new takeoff from where you stopped.
Context Anchor
Used during landing practice and in air traffic control instructions when a full stop is wanted before the next takeoff.
Why Pilots Care
Practices full-stop landing distances and standing-start takeoffs, which builds skill for short-field operations and runway management.
Intuition Check
Stop and go does not mean stopping after leaving the runway. It means stopping on the runway, then taking off again from that same runway position.
Example Sentence 1
The student requested a stop and go on runway 27 to practice the full landing rollout before the next takeoff.
Example Sentence 2
After the third stop and go the pilot taxied back to the ramp for a full-stop landing.
