Definition
A region where the pressure of a gas or fluid is greater than the pressure in a connected or surrounding region, causing the gas or fluid to flow from the high-pressure region toward the lower-pressure region. In an aircraft engine's induction and fuel systems, high- and low-pressure areas are deliberately created so that air and fuel move in the required direction.
