Plain English Meaning
A way to take the pressure off the control yoke. Once the airplane is flying the way you want it, you adjust the trim so you no longer have to push or pull to hold that pitch.
Full Definition
An adjustment made to the airplane's pitch control system that relieves the control force a pilot must hold on the elevator to maintain a desired pitch attitude or airspeed. Pitch trim is typically set using a trim wheel, electric trim switch, or trim tab, and it repositions a small surface (or adjusts the elevator's neutral ) so the airplane naturally settles at the chosen without continuous pilot input.
