Definition
The descending flight path an aircraft follows from the final approach point to the runway touchdown zone, normally angled at about 3 degrees below horizontal. On precision approaches, the glidepath is defined electronically by the ILS glide slope or by satellite-based vertical guidance; on visual approaches it is indicated by lighting systems such as VASI or PAPI.
