Visual depth and distance indicators that can be perceived using only one eye. Monocular cues include relative size, overlap (interposition), texture gradient, linear perspective, aerial perspective (haze), light and shadow, and motion parallax. Pilots rely on these cues to judge distance to terrain, runways, and other aircraft, especially at ranges where binocular vision is no longer effective.
